Pokhara

Pokhara is a vibrant metropolitan city in central Nepal, and the capital of Gandaki Province. With a population of over 600,000, it’s Nepal’s second-largest city, situated around 200km (120 miles) west of Kathmandu. The city’s relaxed atmosphere and stunning natural setting – nestled beside Phewa Lake at an elevation of 822m – make it a popular base for both long-term stays and shorter visits.

Pokhara is renowned as a gateway to the Himalayas, offering incredible views of the Annapurna Range (including Dhaulagiri, Annapurna I, and Manaslu). It’s a key starting point for treks like the Annapurna Circuit, and also has a strong connection to the Gurkha military tradition, being home to many serving and former soldiers.
